Unit 7: Life's a screen - is it really?

Originally, a screen was designed to hide something, but nowadays screens both show and hide part of the world's reality. In our modern society, a lot of information is transported through various screens. This unit is about the impact of computers, mobile phones and television on our lives. Both teenagers' habits in general and pupils' personal use of this kind of technoloy are discussed as well as an American TV programme that claims it shows life's reality on screen.

  • examine the results of a survey
  • conduct a survey and present the results
  • develop their personal opinion of a reality TV programme
  • read and understand a newspaper article about watching TV

 

They revise and learn the following language features:

  • ways to link and contrast statements
  • options for asking questions
  • language to give a positive or negative opinion on something
  • the use of synonyms
